Cory Hepola Leaves WCCO Radio, Considers Run For MN Governor

Before his time at WCCO Radio, Cory Hepola was a weekend anchor at KARE 11.

MINNEAPOLIS — Cory Hepola has left WCCO Radio after three years there, and he is now considering a run for Minnesota governor.

Hepola — who left his weekend anchor job at KARE 11 in 2018 — announced his exit Monday on Facebook.

"WCCO Radio changed my life," Hepola wrote.

"And, I knew from the start it would, because I knew from the start what a responsibility it is to hold that mic. This wasn’t a job, it was a calling to utilize my voice - on this iconic platform - in a positive way: to inform, inspire, listen, love, and serve our state."

Hepola is considering a run for governor, Minnesota Public Radio's Brian Bakst reported earlier in February. It's not yet clear which party Hepola would run under, or if he would run as an independent.
