ST. PAUL, MN — The University of St. Thomas is seeking to buy the nearby Town & Country golf club for $61.4 million. The offer is a part of the university's quest to grow its athletics department, which is in the process of moving from Division III to Division I.

The sale would include 94 acres of land, FOX 9 reports.

"To be clear, none of the club's property has been made available for sale, and this proposal was entirely unsolicited," the golf club, which is the oldest in the state, told its members in a written statement.
