STRAFFORD, NH — The body of a Massachusetts man who was reported missing Tuesday was found about 15 feet offshore on Bow Lake in Strafford Wednesday.

New Hampshire Fish & Game was informed of a possible missing man, Allan Schuh of Plymouth, MA, who went fishing on the lake Monday. On Tuesday afternoon, after not returning home, his wife reported him missing, Sgt. Geoffrey Pushee of Fish & Game said.

“A search for him went until dark last night and was called off until this morning,” he said, “when his body was recovered about 15 feet offshore in approximately 8 feet of water.”

The cause of the incident is still under investigation, but Pushee noted Schuh was not wearing a life jacket when his body was found.

Along with Fish & Game, Marine Patrol, state troopers, Strafford and Barrington police, and Strafford, Rochester, and Barnstead fire departments, all assisted with the case.

Pushee said boaters needed to be reminded that current water temperatures were still cold. State law, he said, also requires each boater to have a wearable life jacket with them whenever recreating on New Hampshire’s waterbodies. Children aged 12 and younger must also wear a life jacket at all times, Pushee added.
