BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Basking Ridge may have already seen the worst of the nor'easter, but the storm's impact hasn't ended. Here's how the snow will affect Basking Ridge the rest of this week.

Forecast

The National Weather Service doesn't expect much more snow accumulation Tuesday. But forecasters anticipate some more to come.

Here's the NWS forecast for Basking Ridge as of 11 a.m. Tuesday:

  • Tuesday: Snow, mainly before 5pm. High near 34. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Tuesday night: A chance of snow before 7pm, then a chance of snow showers between 7pm and midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 25. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Snowfall approached 20 inches in the Basking Ridge area, according to the NWS. A spotter measured 19.7 inches of snow at 10:15 p.m. Monday in Bedminster — the highest-reported total in Somerset County.

Closures

The Bernards Township School District held its second-straight all-virtual day Tuesday. Officials anticipate schools will reopen Wednesday for in-person classes. But if not, the district will send a separate message.

Bernards Township also closed all municipal offices Tuesday.

Roads and Travel

The weather will continue to make travel difficult Tuesday, according to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management. Roads may be slick, and visibility will be limited as gusts blow snow.

The agency recommends staying off roads if possible. And if you must drive, have an emergency kit in your vehicle with items such as blankets, socks, an ice scraper or brush, windshield cleaner and jumper cables.
