BASKING RIDGE, NJ — HVAC upgrades will be coming to Ridge High School.

The Bernards Township Board of Education accepted a bid from AMCO Enterprises Inc. for $924,000 upgrade the HVAC system at the school at Feb. 26 Board meeting.

The district had previously went out to bid for the project last spring but were unsuccessful. Only one bid came in for the project which was over the district's budget.

School Business Administrator James Rollo said this time around the district slightly increased the scope of the project "to take care of some engineering problems we thought needed addressing."

"So we increased the scope, rebid and actually the winning bid is lower than the bid last spring," said Rollo.

The district had a much more competitive bidding environment with 6 bidders with AMCO being the lowest:

  • AMCO Enterprises Inc. - $924,000
  • Envirocon LLC - $994,890
  • Environmental Climate Control - $998,000
  • McCloskey Mechanical Contractors, Inc. - $1,162,000
  • Sunnyfield Corporation - $1,223,000
  • Air Systems Maintenance - $1,358,579

Rollo noted that the project is being funded through a ROD (Regular Operating District) grant which helps school districts in the state complete high-priority capital projects.

Once the project is complete, the Bernards Towmship School District will receive 40 percent of the cost back.
