Award Winning Author & Psychologist Presentations for Parents

COMMUNITY IN CRISIS AND MULTIPLE LOCAL PARTNERS BRING BACK AWARD WINNING AUTHOR AND POPULAR PRESENTER.

Community in Crisis (CIC), in partnership with the Bernards Township Municipal Alliance, the PTOs & HSAs of Bernards HS & MS, Ridge HS, William Annin MS, & Bedminster School, is bringing back psychologist Dr. Michael Bradley to offer presentations geared to parents of both middle school and high school students. The first presentation will be held in the Ridge High School PAC on Wednesday, January 31st at 7pm, and, whilst everyone is welcome to attend either night, is specifically earmarked for parents of high school students and rising freshmen. The following evening, Thursday, Feb 1st at 7pm, a second presentation will be offered at the Bernards High School PAC with a message geared to middle school parents and rising 6th graders. The events are offered free of charge and all are welcome.

Michael J. Bradley, Ed.D., has counseled adolescents and their parents for 30 years and currently has a private practice in suburban Philadelphia. Already a recognized specialist in adolescent behavior and grief counseling, Dr. Bradley is in demand as a speaker and facilitator at PTA conventions and other parenting groups. In addition to earning three top literary awards, Dr. Bradley’s bestselling book, Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy! - Loving Your Kid Without Losing Your Mind, received kudos from two notable parenting organizations. Dr. Bradley uses innovative information to help parents navigate the sometimes stormy waters of adolescence and emerge with the family intact.

Heather Athanasiou, leader of CIC’s School Working Group, commented, “Dr. Bradley enjoyed immense support when appearing in Bernards Township a few years ago, so we were anxious to bring him back. His message resonates with everyone and reinforces the commitment to our kids to keep up to date with their ever-changing environments. Parenting can challenge us all and we urge every middle and high school parent to attend as it can only enhance a family’s relationship.”

Andi Williams, Executive Director, Community in Crisis, added, “To see so many organizations come together for the common good and rally behind our work is so heartening. We are grateful to all our community partners who have helped us make this happen. We understand it can be hard to make the time to attend events like these, but we do hope families make the most of this opportunity as Dr. Bradley’s message is outstanding.”

Community in Crisis began in 2013 following the overdose deaths of two young adults in the Somerset Hills community. The organization, a coalition of community agencies, organizations, schools, churches and concerned citizens, offers bi-weekly support groups for families struggling with addiction, innovative educational opportunities in the school environment, medicine take-back days, town hall meetings, and more. Additionally, Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and the Horizon Foundation have partnered with Community in Crisis to produce and scale out an evidence-based community toolkit for implementation by communities across NJ.
