Services Set For Basking Ridge Boy Who Died Of Rare Brain Rupture

Funeral arrangements have been set for Connor James Nemes, a student at Liberty Corner who just finished 4th grade.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Services have been set for a 10 year-old Basking Ridge boy who died Tuesday following complications from a rare brain rupture.

Connor James Nemes, 10, of Basking Ridge died peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at CHOP after a short but brave battle.

Connor was born in New Brunswick. He was a student at Liberty Corner, just completing the 4th grade.

Connor was a bright light to all that knew him. His smile and infectious laugh will forever be missed. Connor loved his family, friends, Star Wars, Legos, and life in general. The past 10 years have been a blessing with him, and he will forever be missed by all that knew him.

In true to his giving nature Connor continued to give even in the end and donated his organs to help others.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Alaina and sister Brianna, father Daniel and stepmother Laura, half sisters Dahlia, Daisy, and Violet, maternal grandparents Liz and Don Szymanski, and paternal grandparents Robert and Audrey Nemes, Aunt Staci Beyer and husband Billy, Uncle Bob Nemes, Uncle Joshua Nemes and wife Brandi, cousins Aidan and Mia Haluszka, and best friend Luca Millea and many extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Morristown and CHOP for their loving care.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 30, 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Basking Ridge. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Goryeb Childrens Hospital, 100 Madison Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960.

Nicole Colline created a GoFundMe page to help her best friend get back on her feet after the tragedy. Colline describes Connor's mother, Alaina, as a "hero mom."

Colline set a goal to raise $50,000 to help cover medical bills, which included three weeks in the intensive care unit at various hospitals and a helicopter transfer to CHOP. Funds will also help with funeral costs and help get her and her daughter, Brianna, a Ridge High School student, back on their feet.
