Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee Elects New Officers

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee (RMC) announced their new Executive Board with the following officers elected at their reorganization meeting:

• Chair – Scott Mitzner
• Vice-Chair - Dr. Shilpa Clott
• Treasurer – Lisa Baumann
• Recording Secretary – Dorothy Dobbie
• Corresponding Secretary – Dr. Jane Zhang

"I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to work with all of the amazing members on this Exec Committee. They truly represent all that is great about Bernards Township and the incredible diversity within our community and within our Party," said Chairman Mitzner.

Mitzner has been a resident of Bernards since 1997 and he and his wife Renee raised both their children here through the Bernards Township school system. Scott has been heavily involved in all aspects of Bernards Township for decades while also maintaining his own private law practice and serving as Public Defender for over 20 municipalities.

Vice-Chair Dr. Shilpa Clott has been a Bernards resident with her husband Dr. Matthew Clott for 22 years and their 3 children have all attended Bernards’ public schools. Shilpa is a board-certified Ob/Gyn with over 25 years experience and is currently Vice-Chair of Ob/Gyn at RWJUH-Somerset Medical Center, as well as a Clinical Associate Professor at RWJ Medical School. She also serves on the Bernards Township Board of Health.

Treasurer Lisa Baumann has resided in Bernards Township for seven years with her husband Gary, a Township Committeeman, and two stepsons. She worked in commercial real estate development for 16 years, but left to focus on raising the boys. She previously served on the Executive Committee as Recording Secretary and is also in her fourth year on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Recording Secretary Dorothy Dobbie has lived in Bernards Township for 21 years with her husband Brian and 2 daughters. Dorothy has worked with a family-owned business in Liberty Corner for nearly 20 years. Dorothy has also served on the Board of the Ridge Marching Band and been a Girl Scout Troop Leader for over 18 years and the critical role of Service Unit Cookie Manager for 5 years.

Corresponding Secretary Dr. Jane Zhang has lived in Bernards with her husband John for more than 25 years and their 2 sons attended Bernards’ public schools. Jane is the founder and President of the Bernards Chinese American Association, serves on the Board of Trustees for the Hills Highland Master Association, and has served on the Bernards Library Board of Trustees. Jane has a PhD in Chemistry and has worked as a professor, a research scientist and as Chairperson of the Employee Resource Group at Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.

The Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee (RMC) continues to welcome new members throughout Bernards Township. In addition to serving as an official municipal committee member, residents can also volunteer for other valuable, fulfilling and critical roles.
