Christmas Week Storm In Basking Ridge: Here's The Forecast

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Severe weather is expected to hit Basking Ridge on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with heavy rain and gusts up to 45 mph.

The National Weather Service has now issued a hazardous weather outlook, saying heavy rain and strong winds could cause problems on local roads and highways and power outages.

• Thursday: Rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 58. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
• Christmas Eve: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 47. Breezy, with a southeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
• Christmas Day: A chance of rain showers before 4pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 52. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Christmas night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 19.
