​Claudia Tanner Dunn, 71, Of Basking Ridge Died Saturday

She volunteered extensively with the PTA, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and The Church of St. James, where she was a parishioner.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Claudia Tanner Dunn, 71, of Basking Ridge died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 after a long battle with cancer, which she faced with remarkable resilience, strength, courage and faith, according to obituary.

Dunn volunteered extensively with the PTA, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and The Church of St. James, where she was a parishioner. Later, she returned to work for Dr Allers, a local optometrist, before working for the Bureau of Far Hills for the past 10 years, which she greatly enjoyed, according to her obituary.

"She spent most of her free time enjoying and caring for her family, and most recently, her beloved 9-month-old grandson," according to her obituary. "She also enjoyed exercising, often taking long walks around the neighborhood, and she was talented at cooking, sewing and crafting absolutely anything."

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, George Dunn, daughters Kerry Dunn and Kristin Dunn, son-in-law Matthew Block, 9-month-old grandson Declan Dunn Block, and her black cat Pippin.

She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Tanner Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at noon at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge.
