Delayed Opening For Bernards Schools Due To Forecasted Snow

The National Weather Service is projecting between 4 to 6 inches of snow to fall in Basking Ridge from Monday night through Tuesday.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — All Bernards Township Public Schools will have a two-hour delayed opening on Tuesday due to the forecasted winter storm.

Ridge High will begin at 9:35 a.m. and William Annin will begin at 9:45 a.m. and all elementary schools will begin at 10:45 a.m.

The buses are on a 2-hour delay. There is no beforecare and lunch will only be served at the high school.

Students at all other schools are encouraged to bring snacks.

If weather conditions do not improve, it may seem wise to close schools for the day. If this occurs, this message will be updated.

Here is a look at the forecast:

Monday Night: Snow, mainly after 9 p.m. Low around 25. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow, mainly before 2 p.m. High near 35. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
