Valley Road Reopens After Car Crash Into Pole In Basking Ridge

The utility pole was severed causing power lines to fall into the roadway, said police.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A car crashed into a utility pole on County Route 512 (Valley Road) in Basking Ridge on Wednesday morning prompting a road closure, said Det. Lt. Michael Sweeney.

The single-car crash was reported at 5:47 a.m. in the area of Pleasant Valley Park.

The driver and sole occupant were not injured in the crash, said Sweeney.

The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. The utility pole was severed causing power lines to fall into the roadway.

JCP&L, Bernards Township Officer of Emergency Management, and Somerset County Roads Department were called out.

Valley Road was closed to traffic between Knollcroft Road and Spring Valley Road. The road has reopened as of 12:50 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation by the Bernards Township Police.
