A flood watch is in effect for Somerset County from noon on March 31 until 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — It's raining cats and dogs outside Friday and as a result the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Somerset County.

The watch is in effect from noon on March 31 until 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 1.

"Low pressure moving through the Mid Atlantic will lead to a swath of heavy rainfall along and to the northwest of the I-95 corridor. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected with localized amounts to 4 inches possible. The heaviest rain is expected to move through the area from southwest to northeast this afternoon and evening," the NWS reported.
