Free Tree Seedlings To Be Available In Basking Ridge

Here is where and when you can pick up your free tree seedling in Basking Ridge and Somerset County:

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — In an effort to bring back trees to the area following Hurricane Sandy the New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign is offering free seedlings in Basking Ridge.

You can pick up free seedlings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26 at the Environmental Education Center, Lord Stirling Park, 190 Lord Stirling Rd., Basking Ridge. If you can't make it, there will be other pickup dates throughout Somerset County in April.

To date, more than 332,982 trees have been distributed around New Jersey through this program, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. The New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign partners with the New Jersey Forest Service.

  • Bernards Township, April 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Environmental Education Center, Lord Stirling Park, 190 Lord Stirling Rd., Basking Ridge
  • Bernardsville Borough, April 27, 8 a.m. to noon, Bernards High School parking lot, 25 Olcott Ave.
  • Franklin Township, April 27, 10 a.m., Naaman Williams Park, Mark St. and 42 Matilda Ave.
  • Hillsborough Township, April 27, 7 a.m., 280 Auten Rd.
  • Manville, April 18, 9 a.m., Manville Public Library, 100 S 10th Ave., Manville
  • Raritan Borough, April 27, Noon to 5 p.m., Frelinghuysen Park, Sherman Avenue
  • Somerville Borough, April 28, 2 to 4 p.m., Pickup at the Girl Scout Arbor, located at the corner of Culver Street and High Street. Go to the fenced area behind the war memorial to meet volunteers
