Funeral Arrangements Set For 19-Year-Old Ridge High School Grad

Visitation will be held on Thursday and a funeral mass and burial on Friday for 2019 Ridge High School graduate Peter DeSalvo.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Funeral arrangements are set for 2019 Ridge High School graduate Peter DeSalvo, 19, who died over the weekend.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at St. James Church, 184 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge.

A funeral mass will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday at St. James Church followed by the burial at 12:15 p.m. on Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery at Mt. Airy Rd. in Basking Ridge.

DeSalvo, who was 19 had been attending Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut as a freshman.

A memorial service was held on Monday at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, according to a Facebook post from Sacred Heart X-Men R.F.C., the school's men's rugby club team, of which DeSalvo was a member.

Bernards Township School District is offering their counselors and additional staff from the Richard Hall Community Mental Health center, which is part of The Somerset County Traumatic Loss Coalition.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the DeSalvo family and the entire school community, there are no words for this devastating loss," said Nick Markarian, superintendent of the Bernards Township School District.

DeSalvo died Saturday in New York City after he jumped off the sixth floor of the Vessel, a new landmark in Hudson Yards on West 33rd Street, according to the New York Post.
