Funeral Fund Set Up For Basking Ridge Teen Found Dead

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A funeral fund has been set up for Lydia Comtois, a Basking Ridge teenager whose body was found in a remote wooded area in the Liberty Corner section of the township on Thursday.

"Lydia was one of the kindest souls anyone ever had the opportunity of coming in contact with. She loved all of her friends deeply as her friends loved her deeply as well," the gofundme site stated.

The funeral fund was created to help her family pay for the funeral, and anything else they may need to put her to rest in the most peaceful way possible, the site stated.

More than $11,000 has already been raised, exceeding the $3,000 goal.

Comtois, 19, was reported missing a few minutes before midnight on Valentine's Day, Bernards Township Police Lt. Mark Leopold said.

She was last heard from around 5 p.m. when she was leaving New Brunswick to go back to Basking Ridge, according to police.

Comtois' body was found around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 15 in the woods in Liberty Corner by search teams, Leopold said. (See Related: Missing Basking Ridge Teen Found Dead)

There was nothing suspicious about Comtois' death and there is no evidence of foul play at this time, according to a preliminary investigation.

This is the second teen found dead in less than a month. Frances Wang, 16, of Bridgewater went missing on Jan. 27 and was later found dead at Chimney Rock Park. (See Related: Missing Bridgewater Teen Found Dead)
