BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A winter weather advisory has been issued for Basking Ridge along with the rest of New Jersey ahead of a snowstorm that is predicted to dump 3 to 5 inches of snow on the township.

Snow is expected to start falling in the township overnight on Thursday with most snow falling between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 1 a.m. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 9 a.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 35. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

The National Weather Service placed the Basking Ridge area under a winter weather advisory for 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. Plan on slippery road conditions, which could impact morning commutes, the agency says.
