I-287 Reopens After 2 Tractor Trailers Crash In Basking Ridge

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — A crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 287 North that caused lane closures on Tuesday morning has been cleared.

The crash was reported at 6:22 a.m. on Feb. 20 and was located on the northbound side of the highway just south of Exit 30 for North Maple Avenue in Bernards Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation's 511NJ website.

The two right lanes of three lanes were closed and there were delays north of Exit 22 for Route 202 in Bedminster Township to South of Exit 30. The travel time was 50 to 55 minutes.

Based on preliminary investigation, a Great Dane tractor-trailer was driving north on I-287. In the area of milepost 28.6, a Volvo tractor-trailer was trying to merge into the lanes of travel from the right shoulder and side-swiped the Great Dane tractor-trailer, said New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair.

No injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation and there is no additional information available.
