New Toddler Playground Equipment Being Installed At Harry Dunham Park

Installation is currently ongoing at the Bernards Township park and is expected to be completed in late November.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Parents with small tots can rejoice as $61,000 worth of new toddler-appropiate playground equipment is being installed at Harry Dunham.

The new playground equipment includes four slides, crawl tubes, climbers, activity panels and a shade canopy.

"The existing playground will remain open during construction, but please keep away from work areas," said Bernards Township Parks Department on Tuesday.

Work is expected to be completed by late November.

The Bernards Township Committee unanimously approved the purchase in July not to exceed $61,410.12 from MRC in Spring Lake following residents' complaints.

The Township previously received complaints from residents after all of the equipment at the park off Liberty Corner Road was replaced except for the swings for a cost of around $180,000 in October 2022. Read More: $180K Playground Replacement At Dunham Park To Begin Monday

The new playground featured separate units for ages 2 - 5 and ages 5-12, rock wall climbers, inclusive play pieces, and a 19-foot tall net climbing structure.

"I know that was something of concern to some residents about some equipment being installed at Harry Funham Park to appeal to toddlers in particular," Mayor Andrew McNally said at an April 25 meeting. "I just want to let everyone know that we heard that feedback from the public and will be looking to install some additional equipment for that purpose."
