Vollmar lives in Basking Ridge with her husband and two children. As the sister to a client who has been with Alternatives since 2011, who now resides in a Group Home in Franklin Township, Vollmar is well aware of the activities of the agency. “As my sister’s guardian, I can relate to how it feels once a person with special needs graduates from high school and tries to find a ‘place’ in the community,” she said. “I think Alternatives can fill voids that exist post high school, and I can help by working to ensure that this agency succeeds.”

Ms. Vollmar and her husband are graduates of The Pennsylvania State University. They enjoy going to Big 10 football games, especially when returning to Happy Valley to cheer on the Nittany Lions with their RV. Vollmar has been an involved family member for many years but took her participation with Alternatives to the next level when she joined the 2021 Dignity Golf Outing Committee. She has been on various boards and committees over the years and is currently a facilitator for #IamRemarkable, a self-advocacy program started by Google, that helps underrepresented groups feel empowered to speak up and celebrate their achievements.

Vollmar enjoys playing MahJongg, camping, boating, fishing and “beaching” with friends and loved ones. She loves to travel and appreciates the people and countries that she had exposure to through her global positions at Colgate-Palmolive. “I love helping people develop. It’s so rewarding to figure out what people are good at and then match them up with the right project or challenge. I’m looking forward to putting that skill into practice at Alternatives” said Vollmar.
