Ridge Baseball Club Hot Rods Let Their Engines Roar In 2024

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The Ridge Baseball Club Rookie League Hot Rods, in their first year together - left a trail of burning rubber in the Spring 2024 Season.

This extraordinary group of local Kindergarteners and 1st Graders took the Rookie Coach Pitch League by storm. In true Hot Rod fashion, they peeled out at their very first game on April 6 and let their momentum reach a fever pace by their final game on June 8.

Facing a pitcher they'd seen time after time, the boys let few strikes get past them and held the pitch count to a season low — not only making contact on many first pitch strikes, but hitting the hard line drives consistently — and even finding the outfield grass multiple times.

Remembering to touch home, slide like a pro, and always high-five their teammates is just the kind of guys this team was made of.

Defensively the boys could be heard calling out the play "No outs plays to first!" and doing "The Creep" to be baseball ready on every play. The boys had multiple unassisted putouts and even threw multiple runners out on force plays.

The closing relay race after each game allowed the boys to live up to their namesake — the Hot Rods ran the bases so fast their hats flew on their heads leaving a cloud of dust behind them.

The Hot Rods finished the season with a winning record — 8 wins, 7 losses, and 3 ties. Against teams stacked with power hitting 1st graders — our gang pulled together a record to be proud of.

Good sportsmanship all around and good friends to remember. Including a crew of amazing siblings!
