BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Alright, Mother Nature, this is getting old. The National Weather Service reported 4 inches on the ground through Thursday morning, and the hazardous weather could continue Friday.

The driving conditions created some issues around the area. A vehicle overturned Thursday morning on Route 287 South at mile marker 29, which falls in the Bernards Township area. Patch reached out to State Police for further detail and will update with any response.

A vehicle also overturned Thursday morning in Harding Township, but officials have cleared the scene for drivers.

Here's the forecast in Basking Ridge as of Thursday afternoon:

  • Thursday night: Snow and sleet likely before 7pm, then snow. Low around 25. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Friday: Snow likely before noon, then rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Friday night: Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.

The snowstorm caused closures throughout the area. The Bernards Township School District held an abbreviated virtual day. Several local businesses took a snow day or closed early.
