BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Summer is here and boy is it hot. As you plan to find activities to keep the kids busy — and cool why not check out local splash parks.

Splash parks are great for kids of all ages, even the tiniest ones who can't swim yet.

So where near Basking Ridge can you cool off? We've compiled this guide of local splash parks to help you and your family stay cool this summer.

Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (JCC) Amy & Seth Geldzahler Splash Pad, 775 Talamini Road in Bridgewater, is ADA compliant and includes more than 20 water elements. It is designed to be enjoyed by individuals of all ages regardless of physical abilities. For additional information, visit the JCC website at ssbjcc.org.

Spray Park at Colonial Park, 156 Mettlers Road in Somerset, the 21-unit Spray Park is located behind the Morgan Pellowski Playground. The 6,500 square-foot Spray Park on 1.6 acres is a children-only facility with parents permitted to accompany small children. Children and their parents or guardians will be able to cool off during the heatwave from noon to 8 p.m. every day until Labor Day, Sept. 6. After that, the spray park will be open on weekends from noon to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26.

Spray Park at John Long Park, 85 Mercer St. in Somerville, open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Badges are not required, parks are open to the public.

Splash Pad at Michael Lepp Park, Park Avenue in Somerville, open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Badges are not required, parks are open to the public.

Spray Park at Arthur Lewis Park, 59 Greenbrook Road in Green Brook, includes 28 water features that run in a 10-minute, hand-activated cycle in an enclosed, fenced-in setting with concrete flooring (water shoes a must).
