Holy Week at First Presbyterian Church of Cranford

You're Invited to Easter!
You're Invited to Easter! (First Presbyterian Church of Cranford)

Cranford, New Jersey (March 17, 2023) - The First Presbyterian Church of Cranford, 11 Springfield Ave., Cranford, invites you to experience Easter! Encounter the peaceful, reassuring and forgiving presence of God as Rev. Jin Bae brings the two-thousand-year-old Holy Week story to life. It won’t be boring, we promise. Children have several special responsibilities during Holy Week services, and we’re planning a fun Easter Egg Hunt with games this year – so please bring your kids!

PALM SUNDAY, April 2 at 10am: The Holy Week narrative begins. We celebrate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem as he was greeted with shouts of “Hosanna,” and palm branches were waived as a sign of celebration with great expectation. All children are welcome to join the procession while waving palm branches! This festive service will also include the Jubilee Bell Choir, Chancel Choir and the new Children’s Choir!

MAUNDY THURSDAY, April 6 at 7pm: The story continues as we remember Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples before His death on the cross. Rev. Bae will invite us to consider Jesus, who washed the disciples’ feet as a symbolic gesture, will soon wash away everyone’s sins on the cross. We will also offer Communion by intinction.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, April 9 at 7am: Join us outside in the spring air as the sun rises, celebrating the triumph of life over death and light over darkness. Bring a flower from your garden and flower the cross in the front lawn. Some will also be provided.

TRADITIONAL EASTER SERVICE, April 9 at 10am: It will be an exciting Easter worship service at FPCC! Children will brighten the Sanctuary by carrying flowers down the aisle and placing them on the Chancel (the front of the Sanctuary). After the children’s message, “Busy Bags” will keep little ones entertained with coloring pages, fidget toys and more! Together, we will celebrate Easter with open Communion (all are welcome to join in!) In a beloved tradition, you are invited to come forward to sing the “Hallelujah Chorus” with the choir at the end of the service. This service will also be livestreamed to Facebook and YouTube.
