GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Mainstage Center for the Arts in Gloucester Township recently announced it has hired Sarah Gafgen as its new managing director.

Gafgen directed and helped operate of the center's virtual Summer Stage program known as Mainstage Plus, which was a program the center ran during the COVID-19 pandemic, the center said on its website.

Prior to that, Gafgen taught private voice lessons and classes at the center and also has more than a decade of theater experience in many different capacities with the Actor's Equity Association, the center also said on its website.

Gafgen replaces the center's executive director Joe Bretschneider.

Bretschneider posted earlier this year that he was stepping down as the center's executive director to become the center's part-time development director, mentor his successor and "devote ... energy to my amazing wife Peg and my amazing family."
