Water Bill Increase Coming For Some Gloucester Twp. Residents

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The water bill for the average New Jersey American Water customer in Gloucester Township is about to increase by about $3, the company said.

The increase is largely driven by nearly $1 billion in company-wide infrastructure improvements made since the last rate filing, the company also said.

The new rate will become effective Sept. 1, New Jersey American Water said.

"With the approved rate increase, the monthly bill for an average water customer using 5,520 gallons will increase approximately $2.93 and the monthly bill for an average wastewater customer will increase approximately $3.74," the company said.

New Jersey American Water customers who are having problems, or anticipate having problems, paying their water bill "are encouraged to arrange for payment arrangements or budget billing directly through the MyWater customer portal or by calling the company’s Customer Service Center at 800-272-1325," the company said.
