With the closing of our spring exhibit and the current installation of our fall exhibit, Sparta Historical wishes to continue to highlight specific exhibits. During the month of August, our Wagon House will be open with its Transportation exhibit and our garage will be open with our 1900 One Room Schoolhouse exhibit. In addition, the basement of the Van Kirk Homestead Museum will be open with its Colonial Kitchen exhibit and its spectacular Mining exhibit. Come visit and enjoy -

FPSC is offering FREE money management classes!
We are offering a 5-class series that will help participants learn how to manage their finances.
Class 2 will be all about FICO 
You will be taught what FICO scores are and what they mean. The instructor will also teach you how to improve your credit score.
Class 1 covered Credit Reports Class 3 will go over Budgeting Class 4 covers Debt and Payments Class 5 is about Savings
Students who complete ALL five classes will receive a Money Management Class diploma and a gift card at graduation! Pick which schedule works best for you! Every Tuesday from 2:00pm-3:30pm Every Wednesday from 5:00pm-6:30pm Everyone is welcome, but you must RSVP to attend our classes! We are offering a 5-class series that will help participants learn...

The Sparta Camera club is hosting the presentation Beyond the Snapshot by Jack Moskowitz Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 7:30 – 9:00 pm at the Sparta Ambulance Building, 14 Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ. Jack is a 2023 recipient of the NJ Federation of Camera Clubs Citation which is awarded to New Jersey photographers who contribute significantly to the New Jersey photography community. He is the developer of the competition application Photo Contest Pro, and a workshop instructor at the NJ Audubon Schermann Hoffman Sanctuary. 
Beyond the Snapshot will showcase Jack’s expertise, not only behind the camera but also with photo editing. In this presentation he will explain how you can take your photography from the ordinary to the extraordinary so that when people look at your photos, they say ‘wow’ and your competition images get 9’s instead of 8’s. This program will present thought processes and techniques that you can use during capture and processing to make this happen.

Sparta Historical welcomes long time member, Brian O'Neill, who recently chaired Military History Day on our museum grounds in June.&nbsp; His presentation is based on Brian's twenty nine year Army career.&nbsp; It began at age 19 in 1960, when he enlisted in the New York State National Guard. Retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1989, he has written about his career.&nbsp; His tales range from humerous to sad to frightening.&nbsp; Light refreshments

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year in conjunction with Rally Day, the start of Sunday School on Sunday, September 15, 2024, with a Celebration Worship Service at 9 AM.

Shepherd of the Hills got its start as a place for lake vacationers to come and worship and has grown into a vibrant congregation that has nurtured countless individuals and families over the past 60 years. We welcome all members of the community to come and celebrate this momentous occasion and look forward to the future. We exist to welcome people to faith in Jesus Christ; to equip us with the tools to make that faith work in real life; and then send us in service into the world in Jesus’ name.
