Civil Air Patrol Open House

Civil Air Patrol Open House

“Andover traffic, CAP flight 2941 turning left final onto runway two-one three miles out, Andover,” radioed Cadet Second Lieutenant Enberg as he and his fellow cadet, Cadet Airman DeMarco, were about to land at Aeroflex-Andover Airport on September 3rd. The two cadets were taking advantage of one of the many exciting opportunities offered to cadets in the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the US Air Force. Cadets (ages 12-18) and Senior Members (adults 18+) volunteer their time to focus on the three missions of the Civil Air Patrol - Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and Cadet programs. While serving in the program, Cadets learn military customs and courtesies, military chain of command, drill and ceremonies, aerospace education, and leadership skills. Cadets have access to many summer programs that fully immerse them in military life, grow their courage and respect, and make friendships with Cadets all over the country and world. Senior members are offered many levels of professional development classes which provide guidance for the professional world and they are involved in training Cadets in aerospace and leadership. Senior members and Cadets are also given paths to obtain their pilot’s license for free.

If your wish to learn more about the program, the Picatinny Composite Squadron, located at Aeroflex-Andover Airport, is holding an open house and recruitment night on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30 p.m. If you have any questions, you can contact the squadron at [email protected].
