1,500 Without Power In Lacey Thursday Afternoon: JCP&L

Businesses and homes are without power in Lacey Thursday as the heat index stretches past 100 degrees.

LACEY, NJ — A power outage has struck Lacey, with more than 1,500 homes without power on what may be the hottest day of the year.

JCP&L estimates that power will be restored at 10:30 p.m., according to an afternoon update. As of shortly before noon Thursday, crews were already on scene, with additional crews requested, according to the JCP&L outage map.

Businesses including Walmart, ShopRite and Lidl were all without power as well as of Thursday morning.

The traffic light at Route 9 and Beach Boulevard is out as of noon, Lacey police said. Police ask that drivers avoid the area.

JCP&L said that a vehicle accident caused the outage.
