1 Dead In Off-Roading Crash At Lacey Materials Site: Police

LACEY, NJ — A Jackson man died in an off-roading crash in Lacey Saturday afternoon, police said.

The crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the area in the woods known as Lacey Materials, police said.

Michael Damore, 58, was riding his side-by-side off-road vehicle in an open dirt area in Lacey Materials, police said.

His 2019 Polaris Razor hit a dirt embankment and became airborne, police said.

The ATV hit the ground with its front end, causing it to flip end-over-end several times, according to police.

Damore, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries, police said.

The Forked River Fire Department, MONOC Paramedics, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit and Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Lacey Township Crash Team.
