LACEY, NJ — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in the Lacey area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.

Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Lacey area:

1. The Kivu Project: Central Regional teacher Dan Torsiello worked to build a school in Democratic Republic of Congo, and now continues to support students in need in this war-torn section of Africa. Continued donations help students get a safe education and any other needs they need fulfilled.

2. Inspire-NJ: This nonprofit operates The Barn, which provides work readiness skills for young adults with an autism diagnosis or who have intellectual disabilities in a restaurant setting. The Barn also hosts Inspire-NJ's social programs for those age 60 and older. It also operates the Joel E. Perlmutter Memorial Food Pantry, to assist those facing food insecurity. The Barn is at 1330 Route 70 in the Whiting section of Manchester.

3. Friends of Island Beach State Park: This organization is dedicated to furthering public appreciation and stewardship of this beautiful park. They frequently host programs and events to educate the public about the ecosystem of the barrier island and its importance. The group also raises money to enhance the island's buildings and nature.

4. Women's Club of Lacey: Their mission is to "pursue with diligence the best life for our home and community." This nonprofit is all about volunteer service and frequently help out all sorts of other organizations whether within the Lacey community or overseas.

5. Vetwork: Run by veterans, for veterans, this important nonprofit helps give back to those who served our country. They offer food, housing, transportation and more at no cost to veterans in need.
