Body Of Elderly Man Pulled From Lanoka Harbor Lagoon: Police

The body of Robert Mcelvaney, 89, was found floating behind a Laurel Boulevard home Tuesday afternoon, police said.

LACEY, NJ — The body of an elderly Lacey resident was found floating in a lagoon Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police responded to a report of an elderly man floating face down in the lagoon behind a house on Laurel Boulevard at 1:22 p.m. on Feb. 28, Capt. Paul Sullivan, Jr. told Patch.

The body of Robert Mcelvaney, 89, was pulled from water near the bulkhead on the 1000 block of Laurel Boulevard, according to Sullivan.

Mcelvaney, a Laurel Boulevard resident, was pronounced dead on the scene, Sullivan said.

The death does not appear to be suspicious at this time, Sullivan said.

The Lacey Township Detective Bureau, Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, Ocean County Sheriff CSI, Ocean County Medical Examiner and New Jersey State Police Marine Unit all responded to the scene.
