E-Cigarettes Sold To Underage People By Lacey Business: Police

LACEY, NJ — A Lacey tobacco shop was issued several summonses after an investigation into the sales of electronic smoking devices, or e-cigarettes, to those under 21-years-old, Lacey police said.

The investigation also looked into the sale of flavored vapor products, which is prohibited in New Jersey.

Lacey police, along with the Ocean County Health Department, issued several summonses to Tobacco Bazaar in Forked River on Dec. 22.

The store was issued summonses for sale of electronic smoking device to persons under age 21 and three counts of sale of flavored vapor products, police said.

Raj Sharma, 51, of Manahawkin, was also issued a summons for sale of electronic smoking device to persons under age 21, police said.

Officials provided the business's owners and employees with "educational literature," police said.

Police and the health department then visited several tobacco retailers in Lacey to determine compliance and to share educational literature regarding state laws prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes to underage people and the sale of flavored vapes, police said.

"The Lacey Township Police Department takes all reports concerning the Health, Safety and Well-Being of our residents seriously," police said.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding illegal sales of tobacco, e-cigarettes and vapor products contacts them.
