LACEY, NJ — Lacey police are investigating burglaries at three different houses on the same block in Forked River.

The burglaries happened on Feb. 12 and 13, police said Wednesday. All three happened on the 700 block of Roanoke Drive, according to police.

The first occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Feb. 12, police said. Police responded to a report of a burglary that had just occurred and the caller said that they heard someone yelling then something that sounded like glass breaking a short while later.

The home's front door was open and numerous pieces of their property were strewn on the street in front of the home, police said. Police also found a shattered window. About $4,000 worth of items were taken from the home and about $2,000 in damage was caused, police said.

The caller also said that they looked outside and saw a tall, thin man enter a late model pickup truck (make and model unknown) and drive away, according to police. Investigation is ongoing.

Then, at about 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, police responded to another home on that same block for a burglary report.

Here, police found a broken window on the side of the house and saw that the interior had been ransacked.

The owner told police that numerous items had been taken from their home.

The Detective Bureau and Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to process the scene and this investigation is also ongoing.

A short while later on Feb. 13, at about 1 p.m., police noticed an apparent forced entry on that same block again while conducting a canvass of the neighborhood.

That house had a shattered rear window and an open entry door, police said.

The Detective Bureau and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit also processed the scene and this investigation is ongoing.
