Numerous Thefts In Lacey: Police Blotter

Thefts of personal property from cars and a bike outside a home were reported, according to this week's Lacey Police Blotter.

LACEY, NJ — Multiple thefts were reported this week, according to the Lacey Township Police Blotter for Aug. 25 through Sept. 1.

Burglary / Theft from Motor Vehicle: On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 6:21 p.m., Officer Holt responded to a Clearwater Drive residence and met with a complainant who wished to report a burglary of their motor vehicle. The complainant advised that they recently discovered that their Apple iPod was missing from their vehicle, but were unsure when the burglary and theft may have occurred. The iPod was valued at $40.00. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Motor Vehicle Crash / DWI: On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., multiple officers responded to Jones Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pickup truck that collided with a parked car. Upon his arrival, Officer Keefe met with the driver of the pickup truck, Mark Anthony, 59, of Beachwood. Investigation at the scene revealed that Anthony was driving while intoxicated. Mark was placed under arrest. Anthony was issued several motor vehicle summonses, including DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane. Anthony was served his copies of the summonses and released in accordance with John’s Law.

Burglary / Theft from Motor Vehicle: On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 8:52 p.m., Officer Holt responded to the parking lot of Applebee’s and met with a complainant who wished to report a burglary of their motor vehicle. The complainant advised that as they exited the restaurant following dinner, an unknown female was observed standing next to the open front passenger door of their vehicle, holding what appeared to be numerous items taken from within it. The female left the area and walked towards a nearby motel. The stolen property was valued at $213.00. This investigation is ongoing.

Fire: On Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 7:34 a.m., Officer D’Antonio responded to a Buena Vista Road residence for a report of smoke coming from the front door. The Forked River Fire Department and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to assist. The small fire was determined to have originated in the kitchen, but had extinguished itself prior to everyone’s arrival. The Fire Marshal deemed the fire accidental. Members from the Forked River Fire Department assisted with ventilating the remaining smoke from the home. The home suffered no structural damage, and was considered safe to return to.

Theft: On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 3:56 p.m., Officers Primavera and Plis responded to a Beach Boulevard residence and met with a complainant who wished to report a theft. The complainant advised that sometime between 12:15 a.m. and 12:30 a.m., an unknown male suspect walked onto their property and stole a bicycle that had been leaning against the side of their home. The bicycle was valued at $168.00. The suspect has not been identified at this time.
