LACEY, NJ — A road rage incident Tuesday morning caused Lacey Township High School to briefly be put into shelter-in-place, Lacey police said.

At about 7:10 a.m. on Oct. 25, police received a report of an "ongoing" road rage incident on Lacey Road near Manchester Avenue, police said.

At the time, police believed a weapon to be possibly involved, they said. The two drivers also entered the high school parking lot, according to police.

Police said they met both drivers nearby in the parking lot of the Lacey Walmart. Police confirmed that there was no threat to the school, and no weapon was found.

The school administration was notified and the brief shelter-in-place was lifted at 7:30 a.m., police said.

"Although the Shelter in Place may have caused some minor inconvenience for some, the Lacey Township Police Department and the Lacey Township Board of Education believe the safety and security of the students and staff are our highest priority," police said.

Lacey police are continuing to investigate the incident.
