Woman Airlifted After Single Car Crash In Lacey Early Monday: Police

Officials found a SUV propped up against a tree shortly after midnight on July 4, police said. Three were in the car when it crashed.

LACEY, NJ — A woman had to be airlifted to a local hospital after a SUV crashed in Lacey shortly after midnight on July 4, police said.

The single-car crash occurred in the area of Lake Barnegat Drive North and Cedar Avenue, Lacey police said. The SUV, a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, was propped up against a tree in the wooded area off of the west side of the highway, police said. The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department secured the SUV so it would not tip.

The SUV's rear passenger, a 54-year-old woman from Queens, NY, suffered serious injuries to her right arm and both legs, Lacey police said. The driver and front passenger were not injured in the crash, police said.

The Lanoka Harbor First Aid Squad assisted the victims and determined that the injured woman needed to be flown by medevac to Jersey Shore University Hospital, police said. The woman is still in the hospital in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.
