Woman Killed After SUV Hits GSP Guardrail, Overturns In Waretown

Rebecca Goodwin, 49, of Tuckerton, died Tuesday after her SUV hit the guardrail and ran off the road, New Jersey State Police said.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Tuckerton woman died in a Garden State Parkway crash in Ocean Township (Waretown) Tuesday afternoon, New Jersey State Police said.

Rebecca Goodwin, 49, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer north on the Parkway when the SUV hit the left guardrail near milepost 71.1, Sgt. Philip Curry told Patch.

The SUV ran off the road to the left and down an embankment, Curry said.

It overturned and hit multiple trees, he said.

Goodwin sustained fatal injuries in the crash, Curry said.

The left lane of the Parkway northbound was closed for about four hours, Curry said, resulting in a moderate traffic congestion.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Curry.
