Are COVID Cases Rising In Livingston? Statistics Tell The Story

As COVID cases rise again around the country and state, the Livingston schools and township reported the newest numbers.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Two years ago, the governor's office reported that 7,228 New Jersey residents had died of COVID in March and April. It was a time before widespread testing, availability of personal protective equipment, and vaccines. This past Friday, the number in New Jersey was 46 deaths in one week. But as always, officials are watching the numbers to see if outbreaks occur.

Nationally and statewide, there has been an uptick in cases following Spring Break. COVID hospitalizations have risen in 37 states in the last two weeks, said Becker's Hospital Review.

In Livingston, both the town and the schools run a COVID dashboard.

The town's dashboard shows that cases have been steadily rising over the last two weeks, but not steeply. From last Tuesday, May 3, through this Monday, May 9, the town reported an average of 33 new cases per day. Cases had dropped to the single digits each day in February and March, but began rising again in April.
