Kids With Disabilities In Livingston Can Get Free Mentors

The free student mentoring program is for children with special needs in kindergarten through 12th grade.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The LACD (Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities) is launching a free student mentoring program for children with special needs in kindergarten through 12th grade. In anticipation of a big demand for this service, they will initially be limiting the families they serve to those living in Livingston Township.

The LACD will provide both student and adult mentors, who will be screened by an adult supervisor. We ask that anyone interested in volunteering as a mentor email Khyati Dutt at [email protected].

Mentoring sessions will be held at either the parent's house or a location to be agreed upon by the parent and mentor with a parent present. The mentoring schedule will be determined by the parent and mentor.

The curriculum will generally consist of reviewing the child's work from school and will be prepared by the parent. The LACD asks that parents requesting a mentor for their special needs child complete a short application which can be accessed by clicking on the following link: https://forms.gle/Sv7BGpQozUDtrBMB9 .
