Storm and Power Outages Hit Essex County, Including Livingston

While Essex County was spared much of the damage and power problems that other areas of New Jersey experienced on Wednesday night, locals still saw their share of wet weather issues.

As of Thursday morning, the online PSE&G map displayed minor power outages in the areas of Livingston, Verona, West Orange, Montclair, Bloomfield, South Orange, Irvington, Newark, Belleville, Essex Fells and North Caldwell.

NorthJersey Fire News reported two flood-related incidents on Wednesday evening:

• The Millburn Fire Department reportedly rescued a female occupant trapped in her car due to flood waters on JFK Parkway
• Livingston saw flooding in the area of West Mt. Pleasant Avenue and South Mitchell Avenue

Other storm-related issues included:

• Livingston High School had a two-hour delayed opening on Thursday morning due to a downed power line, school administrators announced.
• Maplewood police stated that power outages were reported in the area of Valley Street and west due to a transformer failure.

The weather also caused flight disruptions at Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday evening, according to a Port Authority social media post.
