Old Bridge Man Charged With Terroristic Threats

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — An Old Bridge man has been charged in connection with a disturbance that occurred Tuesday.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, authorities responded to a residence on Pensacola Street in Old Bridge following a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, authorities located Giovanni Chiarappa, 49, of Old Bridge, wielding a knife outside the home.

Authorities attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Chiarappa had retreated into the residence.

After hours of negotiations with Chiarappa, the incident ended peacefully, and Chiarappa walked out of the residence without incident. He was arrested and charged with third-degree Terroristic Threats, third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, DP Simple Assault and Harassment.
