Gottheimer spoke of Schwager's experience teaching, practicing law, and dedication to volunteering and community service.

"Thanks to Linda, the Borough of Oakland has worked together to address residents' concerns and to ensure that the community continues to be a safe, secure, and prosperous environment for all our families," Gottheimer said at the reorganization meeting. "Under her leadership, Oakland serves as an example of government working as it was intended, a government of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Schwager narrowly defeated her opponent, Eric Kulmala, in November. Among her priorities for her third term is pursuing a partnership to permanently fix the Patriots Way Bridge, and dismantle the Stream House and replace it with a "structure we are proud to show in our community."

Schwager also wants to bring senior housing and begin working on the downtown revitalization project.
