Flood Watch Issued For Bergen County: Find Out When Thunderstorms Will End

The NWS has issued a flood watch for Hudson, Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union counties for July 4. Will the rain stop in time for fireworks?

NORTH JERSEY, NJ — Thunderstorms and rain have been forecast on and off on Independence Day, but are expected to clear up by 7 p.m. in time for fireworks. Use the links below to check the current forecast and radar.

A flood watch was issued for Bergen, Essex Hudson, Passaic, and Union Counties until 7 p.m.

The NWS indicated that some areas may get as much as 2-4 inches of rain.

They wrote:

"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Numerous heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area late this morning through this afternoon. Basin averaged rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with localized amounts of up to 4 inches possible. Rainfall rates of 2 inches per hour are likely in thunderstorm activity."
