Bergen County Girl Approached By 'Suspicious Male' Who Barked At Her: Police

Glen Rock police received a report Sunday of a 'suspicious' man pulling up to a teen girl twice, barking at her and then offering a ride.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A man drove up to a teenage girl who was walking in Glen Rock on Saturday and made an "obscene gesture," then pulled up again and offered her a ride, the police reported.

The Glen Rock police said that on Sunday, they took a report of a 16-year-old girl who said she was walking around 7:20 p.m. on Saturday evening when "a vehicle pulled up next to her and the male occupant started to make barking noises and what she perceived to be an obscene gesture. She ignored the man, and he drove off."

Shortly afterward, when she was walking on a different road, the person came up and offered her a ride, the girl said.

She said no, and the person drove off, police said.

She last saw the vehicle in the area of Rock Road and Maple Avenue, police said.

Police provided this description: "A white male in his 20s who was possibly Hispanic, operating an unknown small white vehicle."

The teen had no other information.

The report was among 327 reports and calls for service handled by the department from Aug. 5 through Aug. 11.
