BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Virginia man was arrested this past Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen on several occasions in Bergen County in 2003, prosecutors said Friday.

David Persaud, 40, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was arrested Aug. 6 and charged with sexual assault, said the office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella on Friday.

Prosecutors say that on Wednesday, May 29, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past.

An investigation determined that Persaud sexually assaulted a child in Englewood "on multiple occasions in 2003 when the child was between the ages of 13 and 18," said prosecutors.

Last Tuesday, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, alongside officers from the Prince William County (Virginia) Police Department, arrested Persaud at his home in Woodbridge. He was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
