BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bergen County man, 30, has been arrested for the alleged assault and attempted sexual assault of a woman in a Bergen County mall bathroom Thursday.

The Office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Craig L. Herbert of New Milford on charges of attempted sexual assault, criminal restraint, criminal sexual contact, and simple assault.

The investigation, prosecutors say, "Revealed that an unknown suspect followed the adult female victim into a women’s restroom in the mall, whereupon he shoved the victim to the floor and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to fight off her attacker before calling 9-1-1."

The suspect fled the scene but was captured on security surveillance footage.
