RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood is one of America's wealthiest towns, a financial news site found.

The village is the 13th highest-income "city" (with a population of at least 25,000) in the U.S., according to a 24/7 Wall St. review of five-year estimates of median household income from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.

The average household in the area earns about $194,000 a year, 181% greater than the national median, the data ending in the year 2021 revealed. Ridgewood is one of 50 cities in which median household income is more than double the national figure of about $69,000.

Higher earnings are often associated with higher levels of education, the website's review said. In Ridgewood, an estimated 78.3% of adults hold a bachelor's degree or higher, compared with 33.7% of adults nationwide.

ACS data also showed that 48.5% of households in Ridgewood earned $200,000 or more per year, while 2.8% earned less than $10,000. For reference, only 9.5% of households in the U.S. had income more than $200,000, with 5.5% of households with income less than $10,000.
