Broadway Concerts Returning To Seaside Heights

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — The sounds of Broadway are returning to Seaside Heights this summer as Broadway Meets the Beach brings musical stars to the boardwalk.

The concerts, at the Franklin Avenue stage, begin Friday, July 12. Two others are scheduled for Aug. 2 and Aug. 30.

The concerts are free and begin at 6:30 p.m. Get there early and bring a folding chair, the organizers say.

On Friday, July 12, it's Tribute Night to Glen Slater. Slater is the Grammy, Tony, and Emmy-winning composer of "The Little Mermaid," "School of Rock," "A Bronx Tale," "Sister Act," "Tangled" and more. Expected to perform are Christy Altomare (Anastasia, Mamma Mia, Spring Awakening, Carrie), John Cudia, the only actor to play the Phantom in "Phantom of the Opera," and Jean Val Jean in LES MISERABLES on Broadway.

On Friday, Aug. 2, it's Tribute Night to Chazz Palminteri. Palminteri is the Academy Award-nominated star and writer of "A Bronx Tale, Bullets Over Broadway, The Usual Suspects and the TV show "Modern Family." See members of the original Broadway cast of "A Bronx Tale."

On Friday, Aug. 30, it's Tribute Night to Lynn Ahrens. Ahrens is the Emmy and Tony Award-winning writer of "Ragtime," "Once on this Island," "Seussical," "Rocky," "Anastasia," "A Christmas Carol," and the famed Saturday morning cartoon series "Schoolhouse Rock." See Broadway stars as well as stars from America’s Got Talent.
