The Order of the Elks spends more than $80,000,000 every year for benevolent, educational and patriotic community-minded programs in such fields as benefitting special needs children, sponsoring Elks National Foundation scholarships, scouting, athletic teams, veterans' works, a national "Hoop Shoot" free-throw contest involving more than 3 million children, physical and occupational therapy programs and patriotic programs. Each year, the Elks award more than $3 million in college scholarships to at least 850 outstanding, service-minded high school seniors.

The Elks National Drug Awareness Program strives to teach all children and parents about the dangers of illegal drug use and prevent the abuse of legalized and prescription drugs. As the largest volunteer drug awareness program in the United States, the program relies on state, district and Lodge volunteers to promote a drug-free lifestyle. By taking pride in America’s communities and youth, the program takes action against youth drug use through education and inspiration.

The Toms River Elks Drug Awareness Program, one of the most active committees in the Toms River Elks lodge, is chaired by Beth Buecker.

Toms River Elks #1875 is one of eleven lodges in the Southeast District of New Jersey, the largest district in the state. Toms River's membership is now over 1,300, making it one of the largest lodges in the Southeast District. To learn more please visit www.tomsriverelks.org.
